Daytona – Grand-Am  November tyre test

Ben recently took part in the November tyre test at Daytona raceway Florida. The test was used by teams to evaluate the new Pirelli P zero tyre which they will all run in 2009. Ben was given the opportunity thanks to Speedsource and Mazdaspeed. He took to the track on Tuesday 11th for his first taste of the race winning Mazda RX8. Having last raced there in 2001 for Mike Johnson’s Archangel team it only took a few laps before he became familiar with the Daytona track. He thoroughly enjoyed his stint in the GT car and was immediately impressed with the power and responsiveness of the Mazda Racecar. The Speedsource team, who have vast experience of the RX8 where on hand to offer advice and guidance to Ben.

“It was great to be back at Daytona and I really enjoyed driving the Speedsource RX8, although I’ve been driving prototypes for the last few years I found the GT  car easy to drive and very responsive. The Speedsource team are so professional it made the whole test day a pleasure. I’ll look forward to the next opportunity to test or maybe race with these guys.”
