On the streets of Belle Isle Detroit the B-K Mazdaspeed team showed yet again the improvements that have been made throughout the year. A seventh place overall perhaps did’nt give a true reflection of the cars performance. With Ben starting and applying the pressure straight off the No 8 soon worked it’s way up the field and was running as high as 4th overall.
Taking advantage of the full course yellows Ben was able to stay amongst the top 6 cars and show the true potential of the Dunlop shod Lola, which was making it’s final appearance this season before the arrival of the new Coupe. Ben put in a really strong performance around the tricky streets of Belle Isle and was trading places with the Dyson Porsches for most of his stint behind the wheel. After an hour and half the third yellow allowed the team to carry out their pitstop and driver change.
With Gerrado on board the car ran untroubled to the finish with the team happy to complete a successful weekend. The guys at B-K performed well all weekend and again showed what a really tight unit they have become, with pistops and preparation going exactly to plan. They now move on to Petite where the newly acquired Lola Coupe will make it’s debut.
